FNQ weddings: Cairns Post calls for weddings of 2019 for special keepsake
WEDDINGS were booming in 2019, according to Sophia Doran of Forever Treasures Photography, with outdoor nuptials more popular than keeping it indoors.
The Cairns Post is celebrating the weddings of 2019 with a special tribute to all the local couples who decided to make it official by tying the knot.
The Weddings of 2019 will feature in a special online gallery as well as a select bride and groom chosen to feature in Cairnseye about their newly married life.
The weddings just kept happening in 2019, with Ms Doran saying there was no traditional season.
“What I found last year was there is usually a wedding season but last year it seemed to run throughout the year,” she says.
“It was all booming until COVID hit.
“It definitely was one of the busiest ones. The wet season was not so full on so people were booking, with plenty of weddings in December and January.
I had a really good bunch of brides last year and lots of fun, traditional weddings.
“Outdoor weddings were more popular. We do live in the most beautiful place.”
It’s a stark contrast to the complete drop in weddings during coronavirus-induced restrictions but things are looking up, with bookings now going through the roof, Ms Doran said.
“Everyone is trying to fit back in, the ones who postponed or cancelled.
“It’s difficult, they might be able to book in with me but they can’t get the venue, for instance.
